Meson Group
Meson Group, a global manufacturer of valves and flow technology for the marine industry, faced a digital transformation. The old website functioned more as a product catalog than a sales tool, while the need to gather and expose all complex product data grew. Toxic was tasked with building a new solution on Litium that guides Meson Group's customers to the right product and lays the foundation for their e-commerce moving forward.
About Meson Group
Meson Group is a global manufacturer of valves and flow technology for the marine industry, headquartered in Laholm. The business spans several sales offices in Europe, North America, and Asia, as well as a network of external distributors. The organization is technology-heavy and complex, with many product variants and several different ERP systems in operation. Collecting, enriching, and exposing product data effectively to customers, partners, and internal users has become an increasingly important issue for Meson Group.
The challenge
Before the project started, Meson Group's website was practically a digital brochure. The product data was limited, it was not possible to shop through the site, and it was difficult to keep both physical and digital product data updated. For a company with their product range and technical complexity, where the right valve can be crucial, that solution was no longer sufficient.
The assignment
Toxic was tasked with building a new website on Litium that helps Meson Group's customers find the right choice in a product world where a wrong decision can have significant consequences. Much of the work has focused on making the technical product data searchable and verifiable, while the entire flow is designed to guide the customer towards the right choice. Today, customers can submit a quote request directly on the website, a first step towards the goal of being able to place the entire order digitally.
With the new website, there has also been a refresh of Meson Group's graphic profile. The solution is standalone, without integrations, at this stage, but the next phase is already planned: connection to their business system and order flow, as well as a customer portal with "my pages".
The solution
The core of the project has been the data. Meson Group has large amounts of product information spread across several systems, and gaining control over it has required close collaboration between Toxic and Meson Group, so that both parties would understand the data in the same way. This work has in turn laid the foundation for a website that is accessible and easy to understand, even though the products behind it are anything but simple.
The project has been driven agilely. A design was developed that both parties were satisfied with, and as the work progressed, the parties together integrated customized UX/UI into the work. Although the solution is built on Litium, it is almost tailor-made, adapted to Meson Group's operations.
Growing regulatory requirements for the global fleet occur simultaneously with increasing connectivity at sea. This places higher demands on suppliers of critical components for ships and marine applications. Meson Group, together with Toxic, has taken the next step in increasing the availability of its products online with very good results. We look forward to building our digital offering even stronger together to continue being a fast and reliable supplier to our global customers.
The collaboration
The collaboration has been characterized by a close dialogue. An early workshop gave Toxic the opportunity to enter Meson Group's operations and understand their fundamental needs, a process that has continued throughout the project. Design and functionality have been developed in several iterations: Meson Group provided a rough sketch that Toxic then further developed into a complete solution. The fact that Meson Group has been able to participate in steering, rather than being confined to a fixed scope, is something both parties see as a strength in the collaboration.
Next step
The next step is to connect the solution to Meson Group's business system to be able to offer a complete order flow. At the same time, a customer portal with my pages is being planned, where Meson Group's customers can easily find their products and have a closer dialogue directly with them. Product configurators and guides that help customers find the right valve are also included in the plans for the future.
Just because you have a complex data structure, you shouldn't be afraid to invest in a project like this together with us.
