PunchOut

At Toxic, we help companies create PunchOut solutions that connect e-commerce directly with the customer's purchasing system. This provides a smoother shopping experience, reduces manual work, and allows for the automatic display of agreed prices and assortments – perfect for both B2B and the public sector.

Image of a person offering their e-commerce as PunchOut

What is PunchOut and how does it work?

When a customer uses PunchOut, the purchasing journey starts in their own procurement system – for example, Visma Proceedo, SAP Ariba, Fortnox, Oracle, or Raindance. From there, they "punch" out to your e-commerce, which opens with their agreed prices, assortment, and language preferences already in place.

The customer can then navigate, add products to the cart, and make their selection just like in a regular online shop. When the cart is ready, it is sent back to the procurement system where it follows the customer's internal approval and ordering process. It is a seamless solution that fits into their everyday life and makes you an even more attractive supplier.

    PunchOut integration with purchasing system

    Technical standards and adaptation

PunchOut can be implemented with different technical standards depending on the customer's needs. The most common are:

    • OCI (Open Catalog Interface) – often used in SAP environments.
    • cXML (Commerce XML) – common for many large systems, including Ariba.
    • Peppol BIS Punch Out 3 – an EU standard often used in public procurement.

For companies selling internationally, the solution can be built with support for multiple languages, currencies, and local product selections. This allows the same e-commerce platform to offer a tailored experience for each market without the need to maintain separate catalogs manually. Smart, right?

    Why invest in PunchOut?

PunchOut is more than just a technical integration – it is a way to become part of the customer's purchasing flow and to offer a service that simplifies their work. When your customers do not have to leave their purchasing system to shop from you, the process becomes faster, safer, and more cost-effective.

Many organizations, especially in the public sector, today require suppliers to offer PunchOut. This means that the technology is not just a competitive advantage – it can also be crucial for qualifying for certain procurements.
