The history, craftsmanship, and sustainability – Furhoffs Rostfria unites the past and the future
When you step into Furhoffs Rostfria in Skövde, you are greeted by a unique combination of industrial precision and history. The factory, which has stood strong for 125 years, feels both timeless and innovative. The robust architecture bears witness to the company's development over the years – building by building has emerged, as capital has been available for expansion. Every corner carries traces of the journey the company has made – from a small copper smithy to a leading player in stainless steel.
A company built on heritage and renewal
Furhoffs has proudly managed its heritage, where the company's roots in copper smithing have evolved into a business centered around stainless steel. Through an impressive combination of laser cutting, welding robots, and manual craftsmanship, they create products that are both elegant and durable. "Stainless steel is our DNA," explains Matilda, marketing manager at Furhoffs. "It is a material that is not only beautiful and functional but also stands the test of generations."
The production is carefully thought out. From the laser cutting that shapes the sheet metal to welding and final assembly, it is ensured that each item receives exactly the right treatment at every step. With over 25,000 items passing through a complex production flow, precision and efficiency are crucial, but there is still room for craftsmanship.
"It's about ensuring that each item has the right flow through the factory," explains Peter, business area manager for plumbing and stainless steel interiors. "We rely on our environment and our processes working together – but that doesn't mean everything has to be automated. Human craftsmanship still plays an important role for us."
This balance between manual craftsmanship and high technology makes Furhoffs' production unique. Their advanced technology and high competence ensure that each product becomes a perfect combination of sustainability, functionality, and aesthetics.

Sustainability at Every Step
For Furhoffs, sustainability is more than just a concept. "We strive for every product to last for many, many years," explains Matilda. "We have customers who use our products in healthcare, schools, and subway stations, and it is clear that they expect longevity."
Recycling is another central part of Furhoffs' philosophy. They use recycled stainless steel, and at their best, their materials consist of 90% recycled content. "What is amazing about stainless steel is that we can recycle it without compromising on quality," says Peter. "Every gram can be utilized."
Furhoffs also actively works to reduce its environmental impact and strives to be transparent with its customers. Through EPD (Environmental Product Declaration), they can offer a complete life cycle analysis of each product, where the entire CO2 value of production is reported. This allows customers to gain full insight into the environmental impact of the products, which Furhoffs sees as an important part of the sustainable business models of the future.

Digitalization and Customer Focus
With 125 years behind it, Furhoffs is also looking ahead with a clear focus on digitalization. The company is on a digital transformation journey, where a new web solution allows them to offer their customers new opportunities to customize their products digitally.
"Our new website and customer portal provide a whole new level of insight and opportunity for customers to tailor their solutions themselves," says Matilda. "It's a big step for us, but also for the entire industry." Digitalization enables Furhoffs to continue growing and meet new customer needs while maintaining a strong relationship with their existing customers.

The Future of Furhoffs
When asked about future visions, Peter responds thoughtfully: "We see a future where we will use more advanced technology and innovation to reduce margins of error and increase precision in our work."
For Furhoffs, the future has already begun, and their vision of offering stainless solutions for a sustainable society is stronger than ever. They are determined not only to follow but to lead the development, and with their combination of craftsmanship, sustainability, and digital innovation, the future for Furhoffs seems both bright and exciting.
”It is important for us that customers feel they are right when they come to Furhoffs,” Matilda concludes. "Regardless of how short or long they have been with us, they should always feel security and trust, whether they visit us digitally or talk to any of us who work at Furhoffs."
And that feeling, that tradition and future go hand in hand, is what makes Furhoffs a company that stands the test of time through generations.

New website and customer portal on Litium
The task was to create a modern and user-friendly website on Litium 8 that meets Furhoffs Rostfria's specific needs. The platform includes a customer portal where customers can log in and work with project baskets.
The website makes it easy for customers to configure their products, retrieve technical information and documentation, and submit inquiries to Furhoffs online. The new solution enhances the customer experience and streamlines workflows.
