ILCO

ILCO Intestinal, Urological and Stoma Association, a nationwide patient organization for people with diseases or functional changes in the intestines and urinary tract, has launched a new platform in Umbraco 13 together with Toxic. The new website makes it easier to recruit members, conduct advocacy work, and spread knowledge to both patients and relatives – while being built for sustainability with modern technology and an improved user experience.

About ILCO

ILCO is a politically and religiously independent non-profit organization whose purpose is to safeguard the interests and rights of individuals with diseases or disabilities in the gastrointestinal and urinary tracts, as well as their relatives.

At the national level, ILCO advocates politically towards authorities and decision-makers. The organization also offers support and counseling services, organizes camps, courses, and various activities, and highlights important issues within health and care. With regional and local associations across the country, ILCO is an established voice for its target groups.

The challenge

Toxic built ILCO's previous website back in 2019, and since then both technology and user behaviors have developed rapidly. When Umbraco 13 was launched, ILCO saw an opportunity to take the next step in its digital journey.

It was not about starting from scratch, but about further developing and modernizing the platform so that it can support the organization's work in the long term. The goal is for ILCO to be able to work more actively with member recruitment and fundraising, while the website is more accessible, inspiring, and easy to use for both editors and visitors.

The solution

Toxic together with ILCO developed a new platform built in Umbraco 13 – future-proof, accessible, and with better conditions for both editors and visitors. The project began with a joint workshop to clarify the needs of the target groups and prioritize the features that create the most value.

The result is a modern website with:

through an updated process to become a member and the ability to easily pay with Swish.

New design

that is clean, modern, and clear, developed by Toxic.

Event calendar

where visitors can follow activities both at the national level and in the different regions.

Improved navigation and structure

where content about diseases, treatments, and advice is now easier to find and understand.

Accessibility

as an obvious part of the solution, both in design and functionality.

The result and value for the customer

The new website has been received very positively by both editors and users. Visitors are now greeted by a modern and clear website that reflects ILCO's activities and creates an understanding of the value of membership. For the organization, the solution means smoother administration and easier editorial work, even for the many regional pages. At the same time, they have gained new opportunities to work more actively with member recruitment, fundraising, and opinion formation.

The website now also serves as a strong digital support for spreading knowledge and advice in a more accessible way. Despite a limited budget, a complete and modern solution could be developed, thanks to smart prioritizations and close collaboration.

The collaboration

ILCO has been a customer of Toxic since 2019 and this is the second generation of the website we have built together. The collaboration has been characterized by an open dialogue and joint workshops where ILCO's needs and goals have been at the center.

With our experience working with associations and membership organizations, we were able to understand their challenges and create a solution that meets their reality. Through close collaboration and great commitment from both parties, the project resulted in a website that strengthens ILCO's opportunities to achieve its goals.

When Norrviken wanted to strengthen its digital presence, Toxic was entrusted to create a unified web platform, built in Umbraco, that elevates their entire operation – with the park and visitor experience at the center. As part of the platform, Toxic has also developed an e-commerce solution in Umbraco Commerce, integrated with the business system HiCore via our integration engine EntityFlow.

SP Machines

Together with SP Maskiner, we have launched a new webshop built on Umbraco Commerce that addresses previous technical challenges and delivers a fast and user-friendly experience. The solution handles orders for spare parts and aggregates smoothly and is built to meet SP Maskiner's current and future needs. When SP Maskiner later upgraded its business system from Monitor G4 to Monitor G5, they also took the opportunity to modernize the integration solution. With EntityFlow as the integration engine, a more scalable and robust integration platform was created that ensures stable data flows between the webshop and the business system.
